Alabama Rot is on the increase in the UK
CRGV, commonly known as ‘Alabama Rot’ is a doggy disease of unknown cause that affects all breeds and doesn’t discriminate in terms of age or weight.
Although it is still quite rare in the UK, it is on the increase and unfortunately, if not spotted early, it can lead to sudden and potentially fatal Kidney failure. (https://www.vets4pets.com/pet-health-advice/alabama-rot/)
Signs of CRGV are Skin lesions – appearing as a distinct swelling, a patch of red skin, or open and ulcer like.
Hampshire vets, urge owners to check their dogs for signs of the disease, after a surge of deaths since the beginning of 2024. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mesvainr-Oc)
